05Questions people ask
Referral brokerage, answered.
What is a referral-only real estate brokerage?
It is a brokerage that holds your license so you can send clients to other agents and get paid a referral fee. You don't list or sell homes yourself. AXEN Realty Partners is AXEN's referral brokerage. You may also hear this called a referral company or a license-parking company.
Is AXEN Realty Partners a real brokerage?
Yes. It is a separately licensed real estate brokerage in the AXEN family, with its own broker of record. It is built for licensed agents who mostly refer, with no REALTOR® association dues required.
Can I keep my real estate license active without paying NAR dues?
Yes. AXEN Realty Partners is a non-NAR brokerage. You hang your license with Partners, and you do not have to join the National Association of REALTORS®. No REALTOR® association dues required.
Who is AXEN Realty Partners for?
Licensed agents who mostly refer: part-time agents, agents between careers, retirees, new licensees, agents who moved, and anyone who wants to keep their license and get paid when they send a client to an agent. It is not for agents who want to list and sell full time with MLS access. That is AXEN Realty, our NAR side.
How do referral fees get paid?
By law, a referral fee is paid to your broker, never to you personally. So the fee comes to AXEN first. AXEN pays you after the money arrives and compliance clears, never at closing.
How much does AXEN keep on a referral?
10% of the referral fee, up to $500 on Pro or $1,000 on Elite, plus a $50 admin fee that goes to the Deal Desk coordinator on the file. Example: on a $4,000 referral fee, AXEN keeps $400 + $50 and you get $3,550. AXEN's 10% counts toward your yearly cap.
What does AXEN Realty Partners cost?
You pick the same plan as any AXEN agent: Pro or Elite. The platform fee is $50 a month, or $500 a year, or $600 taken from your first closing. On a referral, AXEN's fee is 10% (max $500 on Pro, $1,000 on Elite) plus a $50 admin fee. No REALTOR® association dues required.
Do I need to join the MLS?
No. Partners is built for referrals, not for listing. Most MLSs require REALTOR® membership, so if you want to list and sell full time with MLS access, that's AXEN Realty, our NAR side.
Can I go back to selling full time?
Yes. Move your license to AXEN Realty, the NAR side. Your seat and your revenue share line stay with you. We handle the transfer paperwork with your state.
How do I find an agent to send my client to?
Use the AXEN Referral Map in your portal. It helps you find an AXEN agent anywhere to send your client to.
Do Partners agents get revenue share?
Yes. You keep your own seat in AXEN revenue share, five levels deep, with no quota. If you recruit agents, you earn on them. That is how it is built, not a promise of any amount.
